Global sales of AI-powered smart glasses doubled during the first half of 2026, reaching a record 4.2 million units.
According to recent data from market research firm Omdia, global shipments of AI glasses increased by 127% compared with the same period last year.
Omdia estimates that AI-powered glasses remain an emerging category, with growth beginning to stabilize as the market expands from a relatively small base.
At the same time, the sector is facing growing competition among different smart-glasses models, alongside increasing concerns over user privacy.
Meta maintained its dominant position in the market during the first half of the year, selling 3.4 million pairs of AI glasses and accounting for 81.3% of global market share.
Smaller companies are also contributing to the sector’s expansion, experimenting with different designs and more specialized applications as demand for AI-powered wearable technology continues to grow.
