American actress Halle Berry has been accused of physically abusing her 12-year-old son, Maceo. The allegations were made by her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, who has also sought a temporary restraining order against the actress.
The French actor claims in court documents that Berry assaulted their son on September 26, allegedly grabbing him by the neck and throwing him to the ground. Berry’s fiancé, Van Hunt, was reportedly present during the incident.
According to Martinez, the argument began after Berry allegedly told her son that he looked “stupid” and was a “real idiot” for playing with his virtual reality headset. He claims Berry then confronted Maceo physically.
“She grabbed Maceo by the throat and began choking him, yelling, ‘Who’s dominant now?! Who’s dominant?!’” Martinez alleges in the court documents.
Martinez further claims that his son called him in a panic and asked him to come pick him up following the alleged incident. Maceo reportedly said he did not want to return to his mother’s home because he was “traumatized.”
Martinez also said he has “serious concerns” about the actress’s mental health. He alleged that Berry has a history of alcohol abuse, which he believes “has contributed to her violent behavior.”
Olivier Martinez has requested sole custody of Maceo, as well as a protective order for himself and their son. A protective order was issued Thursday, and Berry reportedly lost her shared custody rights. Those rights were replaced with daily visitation with Maceo.
