Michael Jordan Jersey Sells for Record $12.26 Million

A jersey worn by basketball legend Michael Jordan has sold at auction for a record-breaking $12.26 million, setting a new high for an NBA game-worn jersey.

The jersey, worn by Jordan during Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals, was sold for approximately 12.26 million U.S. dollars, or around 10.2 million Swiss francs.

Jordan was playing his final season with the Chicago Bulls at the time. The No. 23 jersey was sold through Joopiter, the digital auction house founded by musician Pharrell Williams.

“Few objects in sports history embody greatness as perfectly as Michael Jordan’s jersey from Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals,” the auction listing stated.

The sale surpassed the previous record for an NBA jersey, which stood at $10.1 million and was set in 2022. That jersey was also worn by Jordan, during Game 1 of the Finals.

Jordan and the Bulls won six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998. In Game 3 of the 1998 Finals, Jordan scored 24 points as Chicago defeated the Utah Jazz 96–54.
