2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry Awarded for Major Discovery

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Henry B. Kagan and Kenzo Soai “for the discovery of nonlinear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.”

The award recognizes their work on fundamental processes in asymmetric organic chemistry, an area that has played an important role in understanding how molecules with different mirror-image forms can be selectively produced.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded yesterday to Francis Halzen for his work on the elusive particles known as neutrinos and the IceCube detector at the South Pole.

Halzen, a Belgian particle physicist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, received the prize, which carries an award of 12 million Swedish kronor, from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.
