For some families, an inheritance means jewelry, watches, or antique furniture.
But the Born family in Colorado has left behind a far more unusual legacy: hundreds of classic cars and trucks.
After three generations of collecting, approximately 300 vehicles and signs are set to go under the hammer on September 19 in Eaton, Colorado.
The collection includes numerous early Ford models, among them a 1912 Ford Model T, several Model A vehicles, a 1932 Ford Roadster, and dozens of cars, trucks, and restoration projects dating from the 1930s and 1940s.
However, the collection extends well beyond Ford.
The auction will also feature vintage models from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Plymouth, and International, including a 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 1974 Pontiac Firebird Esprit.
What makes the auction even more intriguing is that bidding on some vehicles will start at just 50 cents.
However, this does not mean buyers will be able to drive away with a classic car for a few cents, as prices are expected to rise as bidding progresses.
The auction begins on September 19, with vehicles available for viewing the day before.
Organizers are also offering online bidding, allowing interested buyers to participate remotely.
