Gray hair is a common concern for both women and men, regardless of age. While graying is a natural part of aging, some people turn to simple at-home methods in an attempt to make gray strands less noticeable.
Gray hair appears when the production of melanin decreases, as the activity of pigment-producing cells declines. Once gray strands begin to appear, covering them can become another challenge.
Before reaching for chemical dyes, particularly in the early stages of graying, some people opt for simple homemade treatments using everyday ingredients.
A Homemade Mask to Conceal Gray Hair
Ingredients:
- ½ cup of coffee
- 1 cup of plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
Mix all the ingredients until you achieve a smooth, even consistency.
After washing your hair with shampoo, apply the mixture evenly throughout the length of your hair and leave it on for at least 90 minutes. Cover your hair with a shower cap while the mask is working.
After 90 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly.
The treatment is traditionally recommended twice a week for several months, after which it can be reduced to once a week.
The mixture is said to temporarily darken gray strands and make them less noticeable, although results can vary from person to person.
