Her name has recently made headlines in Turkish media in connection with an investigation into illegal substances, with reports claiming that a hair test had tested positive for cocaine.
The actress in question is Afra Saraçoğlu, who has now publicly addressed the reports for the first time.
Saraçoğlu, who was detained as part of the investigation and later released, shared a lengthy written statement on Instagram, explaining her side of the story and why she had chosen not to speak publicly until now.
The actress said she waited until her forensic medical report had been added to the case file before making a statement.
“The reason I waited to make this statement is that the forensic medical report concerning me was only added to the case file today,” Saraçoğlu wrote.
She explained that as soon as she learned about the investigation, she cut short her trip abroad and voluntarily returned to Turkey. According to the actress, she has fully cooperated with the judicial authorities since the beginning of the process.
Saraçoğlu also addressed the search of her home. She said that while she was abroad, authorities searched her residence but found no illegal substances or other evidence connected to a criminal offense.
However, the actress acknowledged that a substance was detected during the analysis of her hair sample.
“Quite unexpectedly, we were informed that a trace of a substance had been found in the hair analysis,” she said.
The result has become a key point of discussion, amid reports that her hair test had allegedly come back positive for cocaine.
Saraçoğlu, however, offered a different explanation for the finding. She said that, based on information she had received from experts, hair can be exposed to external factors and traces of substances can potentially remain through passive exposure or external contact, particularly in crowded environments.
She connected this possibility to her profession, noting that she regularly attends events and other settings where large numbers of people are present.
At the same time, Saraçoğlu emphasized that her blood and urine tests came back clean, arguing that this indicates she is not a drug user.
“My blood and urine tests came back clean, which shows that I am not a user,” she wrote.
The actress also thanked the police and judicial authorities for the way they have handled the process, according to her account.
“Being brought into the public spotlight over something like this was truly the last thing I would have wanted,” she wrote.
Concluding her statement, Saraçoğlu strongly rejected the use of illegal substances.
“I am absolutely against the use of illegal substances; they have no place in my life and never will,” she stated.
She ended her message by thanking everyone who had been concerned about her, trusted her and supported her throughout the ordeal.
