Diesel Prices Hit Record High in Switzerland

Diesel prices in Switzerland have climbed to their highest level on record, putting additional pressure on motorists.

On Friday morning, the average price of diesel reached 2.41 Swiss francs per liter, surpassing the previous record of 2.40 francs set in 2022.

According to the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS), several factors have contributed to the sharp increase, including geopolitical tensions, declining exports of refined petroleum products, supply disruptions and higher transportation costs along the Rhine.

The combination of tighter supplies and rising logistics costs has pushed fuel prices to unprecedented levels across the country.

Switzerland has so far neither reduced its mineral oil tax nor introduced a nationwide fuel discount to ease the impact of higher prices on consumers.
