Prince Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, returned to the UK with their two children in August as part of plans to live there for an extended period.
However, their stay in Britain could soon come to an end. The couple may be preparing to return permanently to California, potentially within the next few weeks.
The key issue is whether the family will once again receive state-funded police protection. The relevant British security committee is currently reviewing the matter, despite Harry and Meghan no longer being working members of the royal family.
A person close to the couple reportedly said that a decision against restoring their security arrangements could prompt Harry to leave the UK for good.
“If he doesn’t get protection, I think he will return to Montecito permanently — and that could happen as early as the autumn break,” the source said.
According to the source, Harry feels safer in the United States under the current circumstances, making a permanent return to California a possibility.
