Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, saying the relationship between Beijing and Moscow is expected to grow even stronger through continued strategic coordination and joint efforts.
Xi said the foundations of bilateral relations are becoming more solid and that cooperation between China and Russia has increasingly promising prospects.
During the meeting, the Chinese leader also addressed growing uncertainty in the international landscape, noting that unpredictable factors around the world have increased significantly.
Despite these challenges, Xi stressed that people’s aspirations for peace, development and cooperation remain unchanged.
China, he said, is prepared to work alongside Russia and other countries to promote reforms in global governance and advance what Beijing describes as a more equal and orderly multipolar world.
The two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional developments of mutual concern.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan.
