Albanian-American singer Bebe Rexha addressed comments about her appearance on X on Sunday, responding to users who had been focusing heavily on her body.
The 37-year-old singer said she has noticed an increase in comments centered on her appearance and criticized users who reduce her posts to discussions about her body.
“I don’t know what to do with my boobies. They just got so massive and I hate the straight men in my comments who only come for that, but then again a girl still wanna dress sexy,” Rexha wrote, adding that she wished there were “an app for girls and gays.”
Rexha also spoke about what she sees as a double standard faced by women with curvier figures, saying that wearing tight clothing can lead to unfair judgments about their appearance.
“I feel like when girls with curvy bodies wear something tight we automatically look slutty,” she wrote in another post.
In a separate exchange with a fan, Rexha said that her recent weight gain was connected to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She also joked that she “eats a lot of bread.”
PCOS is a hormonal condition that can affect different aspects of health and, for some women, can be associated with changes in weight. Rexha has previously spoken publicly about her diagnosis and experiences with changes in her weight.
Her latest comments have once again sparked discussion around the way female celebrities are judged and scrutinized based on their appearance.
