Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented on the proceedings at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, as the “March for Freedom” is being held in Pristina today.
Rama described the trial as a “farce” that he believes is approaching its final days, while suggesting that anything could still be expected from those behind it.
Despite this, the Albanian prime minister said that no one can take away the freedom of those facing charges, referring to a previous statement by former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi.
“The farce is in its final days, and one can expect anything from its authors. But as Hashim himself has said, no one, anywhere, can take away his freedom. Just as Kosovo triumphed by believing in freedom when it had nothing and no one except its own thirst for freedom, Hashim Thaçi will triumph as well, through the strength of his truth, which years in prison have only made stronger, along with the support of all Albanians,” Rama wrote.
His comments come as thousands are expected to gather in Pristina for the solidarity march in support of the former KLA leaders facing proceedings in The Hague.
