Hoxha: ‘Liria ka Emër’ Heads to The Hague as Kosovo Awaits Verdict

Representatives of the “Liria ka Emër” (Freedom Has a Name) platform say their activities will now move from Kosovo to The Hague, where they are expected to join members of the Albanian diaspora ahead of the verdict involving former KLA leaders.

Speaking at a press conference, platform representative Eliza Hoxha thanked citizens for their large turnout at the “March for Freedom”, held in support of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, who are being tried in The Hague.

Hoxha described the march as a dignified and peaceful civic demonstration, saying its message was clear and reflected strong public support for the former KLA leaders.

She also expressed gratitude to security institutions for their cooperation, as well as to companies and volunteers who helped organize the event by providing posters, coffee, water and other support.

Hoxha highlighted a series of activities organized by the platform in the weeks leading up to the September 12 march. She thanked municipalities, citizens and organizations involved in the voluntary “Hours of Waiting” initiative, as well as veterans’ organizations that held joint activities across the KLA’s seven operational zones under the banner “Fires of Freedom.”

According to Hoxha, religious communities, cultural and sports groups, minority communities, political parties and businesses also supported the platform’s activities.

She further pointed to a conference held in Prishtina focusing on the KLA and the ongoing legal proceedings. The event brought together representatives from academia, universities and civil society to discuss collective memory, historiography, narratives surrounding the Kosovo War and the ways in which those narratives are being reinterpreted through the court proceedings.

Hoxha said that on September 15 and 16, “Liria ka Emër” would continue its activities in The Hague alongside the Albanian diaspora as part of an event titled “Night of Waiting.”

She added that the platform is expecting an acquittal for the former KLA leaders on September 16, describing the anticipated outcome as a moment of celebration for Kosovo.

Hoxha concluded by thanking the media for what she described as six years of cooperation and coverage of the platform’s activities.
