Special Prosecutors Reviewing Assets of Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi and Selimi

Officials from the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague are reportedly examining the assets and property linked to Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, the four former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders on trial in The Hague.

Journalist Rina Mujku reported that prosecutors are looking into which properties and other assets are registered under the names of the four defendants.

She explained that the procedure could be connected to potential compensation for victims following the conclusion of the judicial proceedings. Similar steps have previously been taken in cases involving former KLA members Salih Mustafa and Pjetër Shala.

According to Mujku, the authorities are not leaving the matter to be handled through separate civil lawsuits in Kosovo’s regular courts. Instead, the process is reportedly being pursued within the framework of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

She said the purpose is to determine the financial resources and assets available to the four defendants in case a subsequent decision is made regarding compensation for victims.

Mujku added that the process was initiated in November 2025 and is intended to be addressed after the conclusion of the main proceedings, rather than being decided at the same time as the verdict.

The potential compensation process concerns 156 victims and, according to the report, would be handled through the Specialist Chambers rather than requiring each victim to file an individual civil claim before Kosovo’s regular courts.
