Altin Krasniqi, the son of former KLA leader Jakup Krasniqi, has traveled to The Hague, where he is awaiting the verdict and hoping for his father’s release.
Speaking ahead of the ruling, Krasniqi said that based on everything the family and defense team have followed throughout the proceedings, they have not seen evidence that implicates the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war.
“We expect them to be found not guilty. We have followed the entire process over the past six years, and the defense team has told us—and from what we have been able to see ourselves—that there is no evidence that implicates the just war of the Kosovo Liberation Army. So, we expect them to be released tomorrow,” Krasniqi said.
Asked about the difficulties his family has faced during the six-year legal process, he said the prolonged proceedings had been extremely difficult, particularly because of what he described as an injustice.
“For us, these six years have been very hard. Injustice makes the entire process even more difficult. But we are proud of the war fought by my father and the leaders of the KLA,” he said.
The first-instance verdict in the “Thaçi et al.” case is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, with the hearing beginning at 10:00 a.m.
