Kosovo citizen Bajram Bajrami has been released by Croatian authorities, the country’s Ministry of Justice announced.
According to the ministry, Bajrami had been detained in Croatia on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by Serbia over allegations related to war crimes allegedly committed during the Kosovo War, when he was a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, had called for his release in an official letter to her Croatian counterpart, Damir Habijan, and also discussed the case with him by phone.
The ministry said Kosovo’s institutions will continue to support its citizens and protect their rights in cases involving Serbian arrest warrants.
