A 37-year-old school caretaker has died after being stabbed by a former student at a school in Poland.
The 15-year-old entered a primary school in Leszczydół-Nowiny, north of Warsaw, at around 9 a.m. and attacked the caretaker before being subdued by a teacher and the school principal, who were also injured.
Polish police said they had also detained a 17-year-old boy in another town a day earlier after he allegedly indicated an intention to do “something spectacular” at his school.
On Wednesday, a 19-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of carrying out a knife attack at another Polish school, in which seven people were injured.
The 15-year-old who attacked the caretaker was carrying three knives, Polish Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka said.
The teenager had previously attended the school, but his motive for the attack remains unclear, Galecka added.
Polish media reported that the caretaker had attempted to prevent the 15-year-old from entering the school.
The teacher and the school principal are not in life-threatening condition, the ministry spokesperson said.
