Greek authorities believe that convicted criminal Alket Rizai, who failed to return to Domokos Prison on September 14 after being granted temporary leave, may have fled either to Albania or Kosovo.
According to Greek media reports, Rizai was allegedly involved in a shooting incident outside a beach bar in Anavyssos, where he had arrived by car with several friends.
Rizai allegedly played music at a high volume, leading to an argument with the owner of the business.
The situation reportedly escalated quickly, with Rizai allegedly pulling out a firearm and firing shots into the air.
Meanwhile, new accounts surrounding Rizai’s escape claim that the Albanian national used a police-style beacon and a loudspeaker during his getaway.
According to one witness account, a driver traveling along the roads where Rizai was reportedly spotted after the Anavyssos incident noticed an activated signal on a vehicle behind him, similar to the one used by the Hellenic Police on unmarked vehicles. One of the vehicle’s passengers allegedly addressed the driver through a loudspeaker.
