GERMANY TO URGENTLY SEND PATRIOT MISSILES TO UKRAINE AS RUSSIAN ATTACKS INTENSIFY

Germany will urgently provide Ukraine with Patriot interceptor missiles as Kyiv faces a renewed wave of Russian attacks, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced during a video meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Pistorius said Russia’s attempts at intimidation and hybrid attacks would not succeed against Ukraine, Germany or other partner nations. He argued that Moscow’s actions were instead strengthening Europe’s determination to defend peace and freedom.

As part of the new assistance package, Germany will transfer PAC-2 Patriot interceptor missiles from its own military stocks. Berlin also plans to increase deliveries of air-to-air missiles to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to protect its airspace.

Ukraine is also ordering several thousand additional IRIS-T missiles from Germany, with financing expected to come through an EU-Ukraine defense loan. Pistorius said production capacity could be expanded by establishing an additional manufacturing line.

The measures are intended to create a stronger defensive shield against Russian air attacks as Moscow intensifies its use of missiles and drones against targets across Ukraine.

Germany will also finance tens of thousands of long-range artillery shells. According to Pistorius, the ammunition will be purchased in cooperation with the United Kingdom before being delivered to Ukrainian forces.

Berlin’s announcement comes days after the German government blamed Russia for an unsuccessful drone attack in Leipzig, describing the incident as part of Moscow’s broader campaign of hybrid pressure against Germany.
