HUNTER BIDEN JOKED HE’D RUN ONLY IF HE RETURNED TO DRUGS — NOW HE’S NOT RULING IT OUT

Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, has raised speculation about a possible presidential bid in 2028 after suggesting that he may consider running for the White House.

During an interview on WABC’s “Cats Roundtable,” Hunter Biden was asked whether he could see himself entering the 2028 presidential race.

“If I have your support, maybe I should,” he replied, addressing the show’s host, businessman John Catsimatidis.

The comment does not represent a formal campaign announcement, and Hunter Biden has not declared his candidacy or announced plans to launch a presidential campaign.

His latest remarks are notable, however, because they mark a change from comments he made just weeks earlier.

During an interview with comedian Bill Maher, Hunter Biden was asked whether he had ever considered running for president. He initially answered “no” before joking that if he ever announced a presidential campaign, people should check whether he had returned to using drugs.

Hunter Biden has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction and said he has remained sober since 2019.

ADDICTION COULD BECOME A KEY ISSUE

If he were to enter politics, Hunter Biden said combating addiction in the United States would be one of the issues closest to him.

“The thing I care about most is the 50 million Americans who are still suffering from addiction,” he said.

He also said he would want the next president to uphold the Constitution and respect the rule of law.

HUNTER BIDEN NAMES POTENTIAL DEMOCRATIC CONTENDERS

Despite leaving the door open to a potential run, Hunter Biden acknowledged that the Democratic Party already has several prominent figures who could compete for the nomination in 2028.

Among the names he mentioned were Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Speaking about Newsom, Hunter Biden said he has a personal affection for the California governor.

HIS PAST COULD COME UNDER SCRUTINY

A presidential campaign by Hunter Biden would likely bring renewed attention to his legal and personal history.

In 2024, he was convicted in a federal gun case and pleaded guilty in a separate case involving tax offenses.

Later that year, President Joe Biden granted his son a federal pardon covering those cases, as well as other federal offenses dating from 2014 through the end of 2024.

For now, Hunter Biden remains far from being an official presidential candidate.

Still, his latest comments represent a notable shift — from previously dismissing the idea of a campaign to now suggesting that a run for the White House in 2028 could be possible.
