Russia has launched a massive missile and drone attack on several cities across Ukraine, killing at least 20 people, including four children.
The city of Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region, was among the hardest hit, after a Russian missile struck a five-story residential building. Fourteen people, including four children, were killed, while 50 others were injured. Rescue teams have pulled 15 people from the rubble, and search-and-rescue operations are continuing.
Attacks were also reported in the capital, Kyiv. Two people were killed after an airstrike caused a fire at a garage complex in the Darnytskyi district. Explosions and damage were also reported in the Podil, Obolon and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
In Kremenchuk, the attacks damaged residential buildings and an industrial facility. Two people were killed and seven others were injured. Strikes and damage were also reported in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Oleksandriia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, saying Russia had used dozens of missiles and drones and that Ukrainian air defenses had managed to intercept a significant number of them.
Zelensky said ballistic missiles remain one of the main challenges facing Ukraine’s air defenses and reiterated his call for additional U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems.
