Montenegro Stops Three Containers of Expired Brazilian Beef Bound for Kosovo

Montenegrin customs authorities have blocked the transit to Kosovo of three containers carrying frozen beef from Brazil after an inspection found that the products had passed their stated expiration date.

Authorities suspect that the original labels on the meat had been removed and replaced with counterfeit labels showing a later expiration date.

The shipment was intercepted during intensified inspections at the Customs Unit of the Port of Bar. The three containers were reportedly destined for a buyer in Kosovo, identified by authorities by the initials A….ShPK.

Following the discovery, the containers were placed under customs supervision while further checks were carried out at a refrigerated facility inside the Port of Bar.

During the inspection, customs officials found that workers allegedly hired by a Kosovo-based company had removed the original labels attached to the products.

Montenegrin authorities are also investigating whether meat from the same Kosovo-based company may have already reached other businesses in Montenegro.

Officials said several companies involved in meat processing in Montenegro are supplied by the Kosovo-registered entity mentioned in the case.

Further investigations are now underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shipment and determine whether any of the products were distributed elsewhere.
