A 40-year-old Illinois mother has been charged with murder after allegedly killing her 2-year-old son and attempting to take her own life.
According to court documents, Corie Walsh had recently become deeply interested in the Lindsay Clancy trial in Massachusetts. Witnesses said she was “very invested” in the case, while records indicate she was actively discussing it through text messages as recently as three and a half hours before her child was discovered.
Police responded to a home in Frankfort, Illinois, on the afternoon of Sept. 1, where officers found a neighbor performing CPR on 2-year-old Barrett Walsh.
Court filings state that the neighbor had discovered the child in the basement of the home and immediately called 911.
Walsh is now facing a murder charge as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
