“Night of Waiting” Begins in Pristina Hours Before Hague Verdict

The “Night of Waiting” has begun at Skënderbeu Square in Pristina, just hours before the first-instance verdict in the case against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

Earlier, the “Flames of Freedom” were lit at the square as a symbolic gesture of hope for the release of the four former KLA leaders.

Large numbers of citizens have gathered in the heart of the capital and are expected to remain there through the night and into Wednesday morning, when the hearing to deliver the verdict is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Similar “Nights of Waiting” have also been organized in other cities across Kosovo, with citizens gathering in central squares to await the outcome of the highly anticipated proceedings in The Hague.
