Police Officer Under Investigation After €105 Found at Pristina Airport

Kosovo’s Police Inspectorate has launched an investigation into a police officer stationed at Pristina International Airport after €105 reported missing by an airport employee was allegedly not handled according to official procedures.

The case was referred to the Inspectorate on September 14, 2026, after an airport worker reported that €105 had gone missing several days earlier.

During the investigation, authorities reviewed surveillance footage and determined that the money had been found by a Kosovo citizen living in Germany. The passenger reportedly handed the cash over to a police officer at the airport.

According to the information collected by investigators, the officer acknowledged receiving the money but admitted that it was not processed or handed over in accordance with the procedures established for lost property.

The money was reportedly placed later in a donation box belonging to a charitable organization at the airport.

Considering the circumstances and the existence of reasonable suspicion, the Police Inspectorate has recommended that the officer be suspended with pay while the investigation continues.

Investigators are examining the case under suspected offenses related to misappropriation in office and misuse of another person’s property.

The Inspectorate said its investigators will continue working in coordination with the prosecution to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether further legal action is warranted.
