U.S. President Donald Trump announced that CNN, MS NOW and Politico will no longer be allowed access to the White House, accusing the news organizations of publishing what he described as “fake news” about his administration.
Trump announced the decision on Friday in a post on his Truth Social platform, saying the ban would take effect immediately. He also suggested that additional media organizations could face similar restrictions.
The president did not provide further details on how the decision would be implemented, including whether it would affect individual journalists’ credentials or their ability to attend White House press briefings and other official events.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico had not immediately issued public responses to the announcement.
The move comes amid Trump’s long-running disputes with news organizations whose coverage he has frequently criticized.
The announcement has also raised questions about future media access to the White House and how the administration’s relationship with news organizations will develop following the restrictions.
