U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson has accused Russia and what he described as the security apparatus under Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s control of attempting to interfere with Serbia’s October 25 elections.
Wilson alleged that efforts include creating fake accounts and identities, spreading propaganda, using state resources unlawfully, and bringing media outlets increasingly under government control.
He said these activities are being closely monitored and stressed that Serbian citizens deserve elections that are free, fair, and transparent.
“Russia and the security apparatus controlled by Vučić are trying to manipulate the October 25 elections,” Wilson said, warning that the United States is watching the situation closely.
